Phone and internet bills in myDATA
Mobile, landline and internet take the same code; care is needed when the bill also includes a device.
Short answer
- Category: 2.4 · General expenses with VAT deduction.
- E3 code: E3_585_013 · Telecommunications.
- VAT classification: VAT_361, with the line’s net value as the amount.
- The combination is allowed for document types 1.1, 2.1, 5.2 (credit note) and 13.1 (AADE table).
What to check
- If the invoice includes buying a device (phone, router), that line may be a fixed asset rather than telecommunications: check its useful life.
- If the business has several lines on the same bill, the classification stays the same; it only changes if a line is not for business use.
- The provider’s credit notes take the same code.
Why it matters
If the bill is left unclassified, its amount is prefilled in E3 under code 585_016 together with every other unclassified expense (AADE’s E3 FAQ).
The phone bill is one of the most regular expenses of any business. One consistent classification per provider saves twelve decisions a year.
